Grand Hyatt Hotel - Tokyo, JapanArchitect: Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates Interior Designer: Chhada Siembieda Remedios In the heart of Roppongi Hills, Mori Buildings redevelopment project, “The new cultural and life style destination in Tokyo” is the Grand Hyatt Hotel with 390 guest rooms specially featuring Presidential and Executive suites. Clean contemporary style is softened by the choice of natural woods and fabrics that evoke a traditional Japanese residence. The dynamic power of lighting is spectacularly displayed in the luminous three story circular staircase that acts as a functional chandelier--welcoming guests and draw- ing them further into the hotel. Within the hotel are 2,800 square meters of state-of-the art meeting and conference rooms in which colored LED pendants change the moods of the rooms based on the seasons.
The lighting concept rested on the creation of luminous planes that framed and unified three dimensional spaces. Soft planes of illumination guide guests through the hotel as if it were a glowing lantern, providing clean, unobtrusive visual warmth in the service of Japanese hospitality. |
