Niche Media produces luxurious magazines that cater to a diverse set of communities in food, travel, fashion, society, and more. In 2007, Niche Media sought to expand its offices, moving from its midtown Manhattan corporate office to a larger downtown Tribeca loft space. The magazine company sought to create a space that reflected both its savvy readership and engendered the creative attitude that pervades their magazine production. The architect offset clean, undulating ceiling panels with the rough industrial background of the space, immediately setting the unique, inventive tone of the offices. Lighting fixtures support both the clean modern and the rough industrial aesthetic.

A range of decorative fixtures break the rigidity of the space and separate the office’s areas into functional zones. Spherical pendants in the corners of the office establish casual pods where employees and visitors can read a magazine or converse. Recessed fluorescents in meeting and video conferencing rooms provide a stylish and functional atmosphere. The reception area features backlit Barrisol panels that illuminate a mosaic of magazine covers, the first hint of the diverse, chic space within.
